Mehmet Hassan Emin

I am a photographer. There are many like me but let me tell you how I am unique.

Seven years ago, I switched careers to pursue photography full-time.

Leaving the world of clinical research  - a dependable, potentially lucrative industry - for the uncertainty of a creative’s life seemed a crazy roll of the dice. My perseverance, adaptability and focus has enabled my success - it drives my passion to explore further creative opportunities.

Q&A

How long have you been shooting?

Close to ten years. Creatively for seven of those years, professionally for four.

What sparked your interest in photography?

My father. Forever behind the lens, when I was old enough, he gave me the family camera. Photography has been in my life ever since.

What inspires your work?

People, their behaviours and vulnerabilities. I have always thought of myself as a street photographer, but increasingly, I am moving towards a humanist style of photography.

What equipment do you use?

Leica Q, but vast majority of my portfolio is shot with a Nikon D750.

Did you study photography?

Nope, all self-taught.
